Moderna Museet first opened 1958. The current Moderna Museet opened its doors in 2009. It was the Spanish architect Rafael Moneo who designed the building. The collection of Moderna Museet has about 5,000 works of art, 25,000 drawings, 400 videos and 100,000 photos. The collection includes a complete apartment on Östermalm.

Pontus Hultén Collection. In 2005, former museum director Pontus Hultén bequeathed over 700 works of art to Moderna Museet, along with his archive and library. In the series 'A Walk in the Park', which was shot in the spring of 2020, the museum's director Poul Erik Tøjner guides us to a number of the park's signature works. The nine short films in the series range from the pop artist Roy Lichtenstein's yellow brushstrokes over Henry Heerup's granite figures to Alicja Kwade's stone globes and Alexander Calder's three masterpieces in front of the café.
